Tammie (Daley) McNaught was born on this date in Providence to the late Joan Louise (Riley) Daley (1929-2019) and the late Frederick A. Daley (1927-1991).

Tammie grew up in the Darlington section of Pawtucket, just a few streets away from St. Teresa’s Church and attended the parish’s elementary school. With a great sense of adventure, Tammie enrolled and graduated from Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, MA.

It was during those later elementary and high school years that the Daley family Sunday paper delivery tradition took hold. Can’t imagine it was much fun rising early every Sunday morning, putting the papers together and then rushing to get them on customers’ porches before people came home from church services.

After Bishop Feehan, it was on to the University of Rhode Island, a teaching certificate, a position as a middle school teacher in Pawtucket and a Master’s Degree from Brown University. Somewhere along the line, Tammie met a fine young fellow, named Peter McNaught, from the “other side” of the city. The two were married in June of 1983, back at St Teresa’s.

Tammie and Peter were blessed with two sons, Jonathan and Andrew, whose birthdays have already been celebrated in past pages of this blog.

So Happy Birthday to Tammie and I’m sure the guys in her family will be treating her extra special today.

Margaret Cecelia McSally Riley was born on this date in 1900 in the city of Warwick, Rhode Island to the late Margaret A. Corbishley (1877-1940) and the late James A. McSally (1875-1928).

In 1925 Margaret married Patrick J Riley (1900-1985) in Pawtucket at St.Mary’s Church. Margaret and Patrick lived most of their married life in the Darlington section of Pawtucket and had four children – Barbara Hope Riley Fleury (1927-2915), Joan Louise Riley Daley (1929-2019) and twin boys William Frances Riley (1931-1966) and James Augustus Riley (1938-2010).

Unfortunately Margaret Cecelia died when she was only 38 years old on June 14, 1938.

Elizabeth Daley Mahony was born on this date in Providence to the late Joan Louise (Riley) Daley (1929-2019) and the late Frederick A. Daley (1927-1991).

Beth, as she is known, is the youngest of the six Daley children – Fred, Tammie, Maryanne, John and Lynne. She is also the last of the Daleys to have “retired” from the newspaper industry. Beth and her family brought the news, sports and coupons to hundreds of households in the Darlington area of Pawtucket by delivering the Sunday “papers”.

A graduate of Saint Raphael Academy and the University of Rhode Island, Beth married Tom Mahony back in July, 1981 in her parish church, Saint Teresa’s on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket. Beth and Tom have been blessed with three children – Liam, Maeve and Luke and they live in Sacramento, CA.

A teacher, runner and traveler we hope Beth is having a wonderful Birthday.

The photo is a bit dated, but they are all good lookers, so it doesn’t matter.

Jack Nelson was born on this date in City of Providence to Lynne Daley and Russell Nelson

Jack’s grandmother was the late Joan (Riley) Daley (1929-2019) and his grandfather was the late Frederick A. Daley (1927-1991).

Growing up in Middletown, on Aquidneck Island, Jack attended the local school and is now a senior at Middletown High School. In keeping with the Daley baseball tradition, Jack is the slugging first-baseman on the varsity team and plays on several AAU and American Legion teams.

Happy Birthday, Jack, and have a great senior year.

Born on this date – Oct 21st

Lynne Daley was born on this date in the city of Providence to the late Joan Louise (Riley) Daley (1929-2019) and the late Frederick “Nick” Daley (1927-1991).

Lynne grew up in Pawtucket and attended the local parochial elementary school and graduated from Tolman High School. Soon after graduating from Katherine Gibbs, Lynne began her working career at National Grid. It just so happened that Nation Grid acquired Blackstone Valley Gas and Electric which was the former place of employment for both her grandfathers, Patrick J. Riley and John T. Daley.

Later, Lynne moved to Middletown where her two sons, Jack and Ben, are continuing the family’s tradition of playing excellent baseball!

Here’s to Lynne and wishing her a wonderful birthday.

Born on this date – Oct 19th

Jonathon McNaught was born in Providence on this date to Tammie Daley and Peter McNaught. His mother is the first daughter of the late Joan “Riley” Daley (1927-2019) which makes his maternal grandfather Patrick J. Riley (1900-1985).

Jonathan grew up in Lincoln, RI where he was active in both baseball and hockey. In fact, his participation in those sports led him to a distinction that few, if any, in the Riley related Family Tree can claim. While playing for the Lincoln Little League Baseball All-Star team, that team made it all the way to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA! While that would be the crowning achievement in most young athlete’s career, Jonathan went on to play defense for Lincoln High’s State Championship Hockey team.

After all that, the adult part of his life would seem to be a bit mundane until he met Meara Santoro. The couple was married on November 2, 2018 in Middletown, RI.

Here is a great picture of the happy couple:

Congratulations
